Searching and applying for a job

How do I search for a job?
To search for jobs currently available, please click here. To maximise your search results, please follow the steps below.

1. Select your preferred Function and Location eg "Store Operations" and "New South Wales" and then click on the "Refine" key.
2. Refine your search further by selecting your preferred Sub Function and Location for example "Nightfill" and "Western Suburbs" and click "Refine".
3. Specify any additional criteria to deliver more specific search results eg keywords, job level, employment status etc.
4. Click search once you have made your selections in order to see the results of your search.

What if the position or location I am looking for is not advertised?
Opportunities may not always be available in the job type or location of your choice. There are number of alternatives to assist you in finding your preferred job.

1. Submit a candidate profile and set up a 'job alert' to be advised of future opportunities in your chosen area of interest.
2. Create a new search and broaden your job search criteria.

I do not have an email address. Can I still apply?
In order to apply for a job or to create a profile, each candidate will need a unique email address.  If you do not have an email address, click here to create a free hotmail account.

Do I have to attach a resume when applying for a role? 
To help support your application, you can either attach a resume or complete the 'work experience' field on the application form. If you do not have any previous work experience you are not required to complete either section. If you are invited to attend an interview it is recommended you take along a copy of your resume together with other supporting documents such as references and certificates to help support your application.

Can I apply for a position if I don't have a full work permit?
No. All employees must be legally able to work in Australia. You will be required to provide evidence of your working rights during the interview process. If you are on a visa and your conditions have limitations, please ensure you apply for jobs that meet these limitations.

I have seen a number of roles that I am interested in. Can I apply to multiple roles?
Yes. You can apply to as many job opportunities as long as they match your skills and experience.

I have applied for a job but have not heard anything, what should I do? 
Once you have applied on-line, your application will be given consideration by our team of recruitment officers. We receive a high volume of applications, and endeavour to ensure all applications are reviewed. By applying online you are giving yourself the best possible chance for prompt consideration.

If you have applied directly to a job, you will be advised the outcome of your application via email or telephone generally 2-3 weeks after the job closing date. If you have submitted a profile, you may be contacted by our recruitment teams by email or telephone when a suitable position arises that meets your skills and availability. Please be patient during this process and be assured your application is being considered. If you wish to receive email job notifications, please ensure this has been selected in your profile.

What is the minimum working age?
Woolworths Limited complies with the relevant state legislation around minimum working age and other child employment legislation.

If you meet the age requirement for your state, click here to search for current opportunities. If you do not find a job in your area of interest immediately, you can submit a profile with your required job criteria and be alerted (via email) of up and coming opportunities. This means easier access to great opportunities as they become available. 

Will I receive confirmation of my application / profile?
You will receive a confirmation email acknowledging your application. If you do not receive any communication from us within 24 hours of submitting your application / profile, please check your emails junk or spam folders. In addition to this, you may wish to check that the email address entered on your application/ profile form is correct. If you have still not received a confirmation email, please check to ensure you have completed your profile accurately.

Usernames and Passwords

I cannot remember my username. What do I do?

If you have forgotten your username, click here. Under the Returning User box click on the "Forgot your Username" link. You will be asked to enter in some information to verify your details. Please ensure the information provided is the same as information submitted on your original application / profile.
You may also refer to the original email sent acknowledging your candidate profile / application as the username was contained in this email.

I cannot remember my password. What do I do?
If you have forgotten your password, click here. Under the Returning User box enter in your login name and click on the "Forgot your Password" link. You will be asked to enter in some information to verify your details. Please ensure the information provided is the same as information submitted on your original application / profile. Once verified you will receive an email allowing you to reset your password. 

I am trying to create a registration and it says a valid record already exists in the system? What am I doing wrong?
If you have previously registered, please enter in the relevant login details. If you have not previously registered, it appears a candidate has already used the same username or email address you have entered. As a result, the system will not allow you to also create a registration with these details. You will need to review the username and / or email address entered. Below are some hints.

  • Try to avoid using common names for your username such as David, Lisa etc.
  • You may use numerical numbers in your username.
  •  If you do not have another email address, create a new hotmail account by clicking here.

The system says my account is locked. What should I do?
This message appears after several unsuccessful attempts to login. It can also occur if a candidate is entering in the incorrect username. Please try and login after a few days. If you have forgotten your login details, please refer to the questions referring to Username  / Passwords.

Updating applications or profiles

I wish to change my details. How do I do this?
If you wish to change any information submitted on your candidate profile, click here to login as a "Returning User" and enter in your username and password. You will then be able to update your information as necessary.

If you wish to change any information submitted on a specific job application, you may only do so if the job is currently posted. Click here to search for the job you had previously applied for. Once you have located the job, click "Apply Now", login as a "Returning User" and enter in you username and password. You may then add, change, or remove information as necessary. Please note, you will not receive an acknowledgement as you are only updating your application.

I no longer wish to be considered for opportunities. How can I delete my details?
If you no longer wish to be considered for positions within Woolworths Limited group, click here to remove your details. If you wish to apply or register at a later date, you will need to reregister as a new user. 

I am receiving email job notifications and no longer want to receive these. How do I stop these?
When you submit your candidate profile, you chose to be notified by email of future job openings that match your candidate profile. If you do not wish to receive email notifications, log in to your candidate profile and then clear the check box that says "I would like to receive 'Job Alerts' by email on career opportunities matching my profile."

Technical Issues

I have answered all required questions but the system tells me I have not. What should I do?

Please verify that all questions have been answered. If you are still receiving the message, you should delete your Temporary Internet files. For more information, click here.

I am encountering some technical difficulties and am unsure what to do.
If your browser is NOT supported by the Career section, you may encounter problems when applying online. Click here to check what browsers are supported.

If you have Anti virus software, a firewall or other security software in place, this may cause some issues with the application. It is recommended that you temporarily disable the anti virus or security software and test if the problem still occurs. The feasibility of this test may depend on your case, but this test is necessary to rule out or rule in such software interference a possible cause. You may need to consult with your local IT or Network teams to perform such testing.

Employment Conditions

Will I be rostered for all the hours I put down that I am available?
Not necessarily. If you are asked about your availability, you need to specify a range of times and days which you can work each week. Based on this information you may be rostered within your available time frame once you commence work. However, if your circumstances change, once you commence employment, you can discuss these with your manager and agree in advance upon changes that need to take place with your current roster.

What will my working hours be? Is there a minimum number of hours guaranteed?
The number of hours you work will depend on the position you have applied for and the needs of the business. Each position will have different requirements, and the hours which you will be required to work will be discussed at interview stage. The availability you have provided will be taken into consideration.

How much will I be paid?
Your pay rates will vary depending on the role you are appointed, the state and the division in which you work. Most roles within Woolworths Limited are paid under the appropriate enterprise bargaining agreement or award.

Will I receive training for the position I have been employed for?
Yes. Training is provided for all new employees at the commencement of employment. You will attend Company Induction training before you commence work, followed by relevant training specific to your role. Ongoing training is also available to staff throughout their employment.

Will I have to wear a uniform?
We have a preferred standard of dress. Our dress standards are explained at interview stage and will be explained in more detail at your Induction. Wearing a uniform will vary depending on your role.

A limited number of work experience students are accepted for short periods within our support office environments.
