Diversity

Woolworths is committed to diversity in the workplace that reflect the local communities within which we operate and a work environment that ensures equal opportunity for all. Having a variety of people with different approaches and ideas makes business sense and for a more vibrant and fun work environment within our common purpose we encourage people to let their individualism shine through.

Within our organisation we recognise diversity and its value to the organisation and actively create opportunities for employees to use their knowledge, skills and abilities. We vigilantly monitor our processes, policies and procedures against practices that discriminate or exclude employees from fully participating in the workplace.

Diversity within our workforce, vendor relationships and customer base is important to Woolworths. Our philosophy is intended to ensure that appreciation for the unique characteristics and strengths of every individual is pervasive at every level of the company.

In addition to being the right thing to do, having a diverse workforce is a distinct business advantage. We are committed to providing an environment where everyone can expect to be treated equally with dignity and respect.

We believe that all of our employees are entitled to work in a safe, enjoyable and fair environment regardless of their age, education, gender, intellectual and physical ability, primary language, race and culture, religion, sexual orientation, physical appearance or socio-economic backgrounds.

Woolworths is a major supporter and a partner in the Harmony Day Program. The Living in Harmony partnerships explore ways of improving social cohesion, tackling racism and generating better understanding, respect and cooperation among Australians of all backgrounds.

Harmony Day occurs on 21st March each year and  highlights the importance of community harmony and connecting people in our diverse society. It is now Australia's largest national multicultural event.

We welcome applications from a diverse range of candidates and once people join our organisation they progress purely on merit.

There are many diverse groups that make up our organisation, and every effort is made to increase the employment level of these groups to gain better representation in the overall workforce.

Disability Employment
Woolworths encourages and supports the employment of people with disability.  We also recognise the diversity of people who have disability. We understand that whilst some people with disability may require no additional support to work at Woolworths, Disability Employment Services around the country provide valuable services that make it easier for people with disability to secure employment.

The National Disability Recruitment Coordinator program (NDRC) by WorkFocus Australia is our Diversity Partner, and we encourage jobseekers who are registered with a Disability Employment Service to contact them to discuss employment goals.  The NDRC will discuss preferences and register eligible candidates, who will then be considered for current and future vacancies across all brands within Woolworths Limited.

If you have a disability, are not registered with a Disability Employment Service and do not require assistance in employment, simply apply on-line.  You will be asked in your on-line application whether you require a reasonable adjustment to accommodate your disability.

If you represent jobseekers with disability, or are registered with a Disability Employment Service, the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator will be able to provide more information on how you can apply for jobs at Woolworths.
